GAI-501: Game Audio Colab
COURSE DESCRIPTION
GAI-501 trains you to think like a game designer while creating game audio, blending analysis, collaboration, and hands-on practice. Students examine existing games to understand how music and sound systems operate, then apply those insights to their own projects. Emphasis is placed on team communication, asset management, source control, and integration with middleware tools like FMOD Studio and Wwise for Unity and Unreal.
The course structure combines lectures, live sessions, analysis assignments, team collaborations with external game designers, middleware integration workshops, and iterative project development.
Key Takeaways:
- Analyze game audio systems and replicate specific audio behaviors.
- Understand modern game audio workflows and implementation methods.
- Collaborate effectively with game design teams, using asset tracking, version control, and task management tools.
- Produce a final Audio Technical Design Document (TDD) and team presentation demonstrating applied knowledge.
